Here is five Mechanical Drawings 3D files compatable with AutoCAD 2007; the files are Pillow block Cast Bearing, Supe Gear, Monkey for Scribing Block, Hexagonal Bolt and Gland for Stuffing Box

Pillow Block Cast Bearing

A Pillow Block Cast Bearing is a casted machine element which support another moving machine element (known as journal). It permits a relative motion between the contact surfaces of the members, while carrying the load. A little consideration will show that due to the relative motion between the contact surfaces, a certain amount of power is wasted in overcoming frictional resistance and if the rubbing surfaces are in direct contact, there will be rapid wear. In order to reduce frictional resistance and wear and in some cases to carry away the heat generated, a layer of fluid (known as lubricant) may be provided. The lubricant used to separate the journal and bearing is usually a mineral oil refined from petroleum, but vegetable oils, silicon oils, greases etc., may be used.

Spur Gear

The simplest form of a gear that is used for most general purposes is Spur Gear. It has all teeth at a straight angle that are projected parallel to a wheel’s axis to transmit the power in a smooth way. They operate by mounting on the parallel shafts with the help of a Gib Head Key so that when the shaft rotates, the spur gears interact to each other and provide the rotation in either a clockwise or an anticlockwise direction by increasing the stress on a gear tooth. Sometimes, many spur gears are used at once to create very large gear reductions.

Monkey for Scribing Block

A Monkey for Scribing Block is a hand tool used in metal working to mark lines on work pieces, prior to machining. The process of using a scriber is called scribing and is just part of the process of marking out. It is used instead of pencils or ink lines, because the marks are hard to see, easily erased, and inaccurate due to their wide mark; scribe lines are thin and semi-permanent. On non-coated work pieces marking blue is commonly used to increase the contrast of the mark lines. They are a rod with a tip made of cast steel that has been hardened and tempered. The point is sharpened to an angle of 30 or 40 degrees. Some scribers have a point at both ends. It is used by drawing the point over the surface of the work piece to leave a shallow scratch on its surface.

Hexagonal Bolt

A Hexagonal Bolt is a basic mechanical component that is used in almost every day life applications. It includes 6 chamfered (inclined) faces like a Hexagonal Nut, along with spiral screw threads on the bolt. It is used to transmit the rotational motion to a linear motion by means of an externally applied torque. A screw thread is formed by cutting a continuous helical groove on a cylindrical surface. A screw made by cutting a single helical groove on the cylinder is known as single threaded (or single-start) screw and if a second thread is cut in the space between the grooves of the first, a double threaded (or double-start) screw is formed. Similarly, triple and quadruple (i.e. multiple-start) threads may be formed. The helical grooves may be cut either right hand or left hand.

Gland for Stuffing Box

A Gland for Stuffing Box is a mechanical device that is used to prevent leakage of fluid, such as water or steam, between sliding or turning parts of machine elements. A gland is a general type of stuffing box, used to seal a rotating or reciprocating shaft against a fluid. The most common example is in the head of a tap (faucet) where the gland is usually, packed with string which has been soaked in tallow or similar grease.

The gland nut allows the packing material to be compressed to form a watertight seal and prevent water leaking up the shaft when the tap is turned on. The gland at the rotating shaft of a centrifugal pump may be packed in a similar way and graphite grease used to accommodate continuous operation. The linear seal around the piston rod of a double acting steam piston is also known as a gland, particularly in marine applications. Likewise, the shaft of a hand pump or wind pump is sealed with a gland where the shaft exits the borehole.
